Fylde Labour announces its local candidate
Fylde Labour Party has announced their candidate in the forthcoming General Election.
Tom Calver is a public relations officer, with extensive experience in public services, from local government in Lancashire to higher education. Alongside this, he spent a decade as a RAF Reserve officer, serving as part of UK operations in Afghanistan, Libya and for the 2012 Olympics. He lives in Poulton with his wife Melanie and their two children.
Tom said: “It’s a huge honour to be selected as Labour’s candidate, in an election that gives people in the Fylde an opportunity to move on from fourteen years of Conservative failure. I’m looking forward to meeting people across the constituency, making the case for Labour, and debating with the other candidates.
“For me, it’s personal. This is where I met my wife, where my son was born, and where we chose to raise our family. Local services matter to us as much as anyone, yet I’ve watched our schools struggle with budget cuts, our health services under strain with growing waiting lists. The Conservatives have chosen infighting and instability over service and sense. They’ve cut police numbers, presided over crumbling roads and turned a blind eye to sewage dumping.
“Britain needs a fresh start and Labour offers one. We’re committed to economic stability, to cutting waiting times, to recruiting teachers, to getting energy bills down, to making our streets safer and our borders secure. I’m determined that when we deliver for Britain, the Fylde gets its fair share.”
Fylde Labour Party Chair Oscar Marshall added: “We are fortunate to have a candidate like Tom who brings professional expertise gained through his own hard work. With real-life experience of public service, he is fully committed to shaping our recovery from the legacy of Conservative incompetence. Above all, however, he has integrity, and is committed to serving the people of Fylde.”
